My Second ‘Art of Evangelism’ Video & What’s Next
Left: an abstract blob of paint; right: a finished Nevada mountain landscape.
There’s something wild and untamable about Nevada; its rugged terrain, blazing light, and stubborn beauty. Moving out here has been a huge adjustment compared to places like New York and Florida. Little did I know that Nevada was the perfect setting for my second video on my YouTube channel, The Art of Evangelism, and the beginning of something bigger.
In “I Painted a Desert Mountain | Art, Faith & Wild Places,” I take you along with me and my canvas. Using acrylics, I explored the sweeping colors of Nevada, but also what it means to live life while trusting God in the middle of the chaos.

From Chaos to Creativity
As you can see, I prefer to start a painting with abstract shapes and colors. This is my base layer. Sometimes life feels like a blob of paint swirls. We can’t make sense of why everything that has happen to us was allowed by God. We can’t make sense of the devil’s attacks or even our own dark reactions to life’s problems.
What do you do when you know the outcome you want, but all you see is a mess? Let me tell you friend, God understands this well.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep…” (Genesis 1:1-2a, NIV)
Now look at what happens in Genesis 1:2b-5:
“…And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.
God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’
And there was evening, and there was morning; the first day.” (Genesis 1:2b-5, NIV)
God can’t help Himself. When He sees a mess, He has to make it majestic. If I, a mere human, can take that blob of paint and make it precious, imagine what God is doing in your life as we speak. If God can take the formless void of the cosmos and make an ordered universe out of it from nothing but His voice, imagine what He’s doing through all of your pain, addictions, fears and worries!
The Heart Behind the Series: The Art of Evangelism
This series is called The Art of Evangelism because creativity isn’t just aesthetic; it’s apologetic. It’s storytelling, witnessing, and calling people back to Jesus. I believe art is one of the most powerful tools for sharing the Gospel, especially in a world saturated with the lifeless pursuit of mediocrity.
Through this project, I’m learning how to create not just for art’s sake, but for heaven’s; to respond to Jesus with my paint, process, and this little platform.
Episode 2.5
While the public video captures the outdoor painting session, there's a Patreon-exclusive follow-up that takes you into the studio for the final touches: “At Home with the Desert | Finishing Touches & Unfiltered Thoughts – EP 2.5.” This one’s more personal. It includes unrehearsed reflections on the Parable of the Talents, what it means to steward creative gifts, and how following Jesus and the artistic journey intertwine.
Even though this is just the second video on my channel, I’ve been quietly building for years. There’s going to be a library of older projects and unreleased footage, all of which will start rolling out on Patreon.
The ‘Let Us Create Collective’
For me, Patreon isn’t just a tip jar, it’s a community space. The Let Us Create Collective has only one tier for now, and it gives you full access as God builds The Art of Evangelism into something bigger than just me.
I hope one day this becomes a movement of creative people, finding new ways to bring the Gospel to the four corners of the earth. As for me, I hope to one day renovate a van into a camper with a mobile art studio so I can travel the country, paint God’s creation and spread His Gospel.
