Digital close-up of Aslan’s eyes from The Chronicles of Narnia, painted for a Roberts Wesleyan University art portfolio.

Chronicling Narnia

This digital illustration series by Michael Sanders was created as part of his senior year portfolio project at Roberts Wesleyan University. Originally envisioned as a graphic novel adaptation of The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis, the project evolved into a collection of imaginative and heartfelt book cover illustrations inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia.

Having read the series four times as a child, Sanders developed a lifelong love for storytelling and a deep connection to Jesus Christ through Lewis' timeless allegories. These digital paintings are more than visual tributes—they reflect the creative and spiritual formation that Narnia sparked in his life.

Each piece showcases Sanders’ signature style, blending rich color, expressive character design, and a sense of wonder befitting the world of Aslan. This series stands as a labor of love and a visual homage to the stories that shaped his faith and career as both a writer and illustrator.
