The Flame Within the Sea

A large, arched acrylic mural with a crowned figure, angel wings, and cosmic imagery in blue, green, red, and black.

At the heart of this collection is The Flame Within the Sea — a monumental acrylic mural installed in the Golisano Community Engagement Center prayer chapel at Roberts Wesleyan University. Created in collaboration with Rochester muralist Shawn Dunwoody and fellow experimental media students, the piece serves as a visual outcry: a call for truth, justice, and divine light in a darkening world.

The full series takes inspiration from Josh Garrels’ prophetic album Love & War & The Sea In Between, blending raw expression, layered spiritual symbolism, and large-scale canvas work. Each painting explores the tension of living in the last days — from the crimson storms of judgment to moments of still, watchful presence amid chaos.

Rendered in vivid acrylic on canvas, these works act as both visual lament and invitation. They confront the viewer with the gravity of Revelation while holding fast to the enduring hope promised in Jesus Christ. This is art made not to decorate, but to awaken.

The Headlong Fields of Armageddon

To break the silence and the power, holding back the others from their glory
every story will be written soon the blood is on the moon

An intense acrylic painting of a green eye surrounded by red, with dark hands reaching upward like flames.

The Snake, the Doomed, the Lawless One

How do good men become part of the regime
they don’t believe in resistance

Acrylic painting with a glowing yellow curve against purple and green shadows, evoking quiet vigilance in the midst of turmoil.

Ulysses’ Venture: Finding His Waiting Bride

Everyone I’ve loved seems like a stranger in the night
but oh my heart still burns, tells me to return, and search the fading light

So tie me to the mast of this old ship and point me home
before I lose the one I love, before my chance is gone
I want to hold her in my arms

An energetic and chaotic acrylic painting with swirling colors in green, red, yellow and black, evoking end-time turmoil.

Striding Through the Twelve Gates

Hold fast my people and sing
through peace and through suffering
all for the joy that it brings, to be free
